Carry-on packing list

A smaller bag needs a clothing plan, not a shorter version of every possible packing list. Start with four nights, one traveler and a wash every three days, then change the trip to match yours.

This example has its own saved list. Your main trip stays separate.

The list updates as you change the trip. Ticks, your own items, renamed items and quantities you typed are kept. Climate is your choice; no weather service is called.

Choose the wash cycle before counting outfits

Five days away with a wash every three days starts with four tops, four pairs of underwear and four pairs of socks: one three-day cycle plus one spare. Without laundry, the starting count is five. Carry-on tops stop at seven and underwear and socks at ten; on longer trips this assumes rewearing or washing, not that the bag can supply fresh clothes forever.

Choose pieces that share a small set of colors. Wear the bulkiest layer on travel day and edit the suggested quantities if you need a different outfit each day. The tool counts items; it does not measure whether your bag fits a particular airline.

Keep the travel-day essentials reachable

Documents, medication and the phone-and-charger row belong somewhere you can reach before the bag is unpacked. The travel-size liquids bag is a reminder to check the current rules for each airport; this page does not certify a bag or apply every destination rule.

Before flying, check your airline's current size, weight and battery guidance. The suggested power bank row is not permission to take every battery on every flight.

Repack before checkout

Tick OUT while packing at home. Before leaving the accommodation, work through HOME separately. Check wall sockets, bathroom shelves, the bedside drawer and the laundry area. A checked OUT box does not mean the item has made it back into the bag.

The second check: coming home

Most packing lists stop at the front door. The things people lose are left on the way back: a charger still in the wall, a passport in the room safe, a child’s favourite toy under the bed.

Switch the board to Coming home before you check out. The count changes to items back in the bag, and the filter Still to bring home hides everything already done. On paper, the HOME column does the same job.

  1. Sockets phone, laptop and camera chargers, adapters
  2. Safe and drawers passports, cash, cards, jewellery
  3. Bathroom toothbrush, razor, medication, glasses
  4. Hooks and wardrobe jackets, swimwear left to dry
  5. Under and behind the bed, the sofa, the car seats

About this trip preset

Can I change the number of nights?

Yes. Clothing quantities recalculate when the trip changes. Quantities you have explicitly edited stay as you set them.

Packing list questions

How many outfits should I pack?

Count days away as nights plus one. Without laundry, pack one top, one pair of underwear and one pair of socks per day. If you can wash clothes, pack one wash cycle plus one spare. This tool caps daily clothing at 7 tops and 10 pairs of underwear and socks for carry-on or backpack trips, and 14 for a checked bag.

Does this use a live weather forecast?

No. Choose the expected climate yourself; the tool does not call a weather service.

Can I make a packing list for two travelers?

Yes. Enter up to six names. Items set to Everyone mean one of that quantity for each person; you can assign any item to one traveler and filter the list by person.

Why are there two checkboxes for each item?

OUT is ticked while packing before departure. HOME is ticked while repacking for the return, so chargers, documents and clothes left in a room are noticed before you leave.

What happens to my edits when I change the trip?

The list updates straight away. Your ticks, renamed items, owners, quantities you typed yourself, custom items and removed items are kept. The status line lists what was added or dropped.

Where is my list saved?

In this browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing site data removes it, so print or export a copy you want to keep.
